What is N.A.P.P.?
Co-funded by Creative Europe, N.A.P.P. brought together four recognised European partner organisations in the field of puppetry arts from July 2017 to October 2020: the Centre de la Marionnette de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles in Belgium, Lutkovno Gledalisce Ljubljana in Slovenia, the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes in Charleville-Mézières, France, and Teatrul Tony Bulandra in Targoviste, Romania.
The Centre de la Marionnette led the project.
At a time when digital technology has become a key priority for the future of culture, forms where puppetry arts and digital arts intersect remain rare.
Between 2017 and 2020, artists and audiences from across Europe were invited to discover, create, and experiment with the possibilities that emerge where puppetry arts meet digital arts.
Several cross-disciplinary actions were set up to this end: labs, residencies, workshops, meetings, hosting of performances… Puppetry arts were brought together with robotics, interactivity, video, programming, and mapping.
What is Creative Europe?
An EU framework programme, Creative Europe supports the audiovisual, cultural, and creative sectors across Europe.
Its various forms of support encourage players in these sectors to expand across Europe, reach new audiences, and develop the skills required in the digital age.
The successor to the CULTURE and MEDIA programmes, Creative Europe has a budget of €1.46 billion and brings together a CULTURE strand, a MEDIA strand, and a cross-sectoral strand.
Project participants: Amit Drori (ISR), Agrupacion Senor Serrano (SP), Meinhardt & Krauss (D), Shonen (F), Kalle Nio (Fi), Yann Deval & Mary G. Losseau (B), the Ashes of the Red (F), Michaël Cros (F)…
The project’s final report is available upon request.
